The Battle of Dagupan in 1898 is one big celebration of independence from the Spaniards for the whole province of Pangasinan. This five-day battle was triumphed by three local heroes. One of those is Don Daniel Maramba from Santa Barbara. A real pride of Pangasinan, Santa Barbara is an agricultural town producing rice as its main crop followed by mango and corn. That concludes why a road trip to this town also means seeing centuries-old mango trees lining the national highway and large squares of rice plantations.

While other towns of Pangasinan also produce bricks, Santa Barbara has been doing this craft and livelihood for the longest time. The locals who devoted all their lives can attest that the bricks they produce are even of high-quality from the famed bricks of another province in the North.
