Drawing inspiration from Aklan’s Ati-atihan and Cebu City’s Sinulog Festival, the Dinagyang Festival of Ilonggos joins the roster of colorful and vibrant January festivals in the Philippines. If there is one thing common with these three, excluding the obvious spectacle and color they bring, is their devotion to the Sto. Niño.

Dinagyang is not a celebration of culture but rather the celebration of diversities of culture. There are three major components or celebrations in every Dinagyang. First, the Ati Tribe Competition, Kasadyahan Cultural Competition, and the Miss Iloilo Dinagyang

The Ati Tribe Competition is the celebration of both native and visitors while dancing to the beat of a rhythmic drum. This dancing fiesta not only recognizes the Ati Tribes as one of the first settlers of Panay but it also welcomes other tribes into its celebration while dancing.

Kasadyahan Cultural Competition brings together all the natives of Iloilo. In Dinagyang, there is no such thing as foreign, visitor, nor traveler.

Miss Iloilo Dinagyang is the night where the most beautiful faces of Iloilo gather to celebrate their purposes and the beauty of Iloilo.
