Looc comes from the Filipino word "lo-ok", which means bay or lagoon. True enough, the town of Looc in Romblon finds itself sitting beside a big, beautiful bay along the straight of Tablas.

Looc has made it to the news for garnering awards for their achievements in sustainable tourism, most especially with their successful 48-hectare fish sanctuary

Though not as mountainous as the terrains of other neighboring towns in Tablas island, Looc has rolling hills that gradually smooth towards flatlands.

The town has a curious topography, having an enclave that is detached from the rest of the town.

Moreover, what adds charm to this humble seaside town is its distinct old-world touches, thanks to its collection of pre-war ancestral houses scattered around the Poblacion. Some of the owners of these houses are more than willing to let tourists in and around, which is one of the best ways to get to know the locals and their past.

Among the towns of the province, Looc also enjoys a very lively entrepreneurial side. This can be seen with the robust presence of local businesses in the fields of food processing and accommodation, to name a few. This town is perfect for those who want to see how local initiatives and projects are encouraged and how they succeed.

The best time to visit Looc is during the Talabukon Festival, which takes place every third week of April. The festival celebrates the feast day of the townsfolk's patron St. Joseph, as well as the legendary genie Talabukon, who is believed to have saved the town from cataclysm.

Highlights of the event are the participation of three colorful local tribes in the street dance. December to May are the best months to visit Looc when the weather is dry and sunny. Rain is to expected from June to November during the monsoon season and traveling is still possible, but waters may not be clear and visible to fully enjoy snorkeling.
