UP Academic Oval
Attraction
2.35 km away

The one hundred seventy massive acacia trees are the asset of the UP Academic Oval. The trees flank each side of the elliptical road, stretching up into a roof of cool green. The canopy of acacia trees shade the runners, bikers, students, and passenger jeepneys below. The Oval measures 2.2 kilometers in circumference, with a dedicated bike lane and several cemented benches along its pedestrian lanes. Inside the Oval lies the Lagoon, a quiet hangout among lovers and bookworms, and the Sunken Garden, a multi-purpose spacious ground, sunken about 1 meter deep because of its limestone nature. Surrounding the Oval are the neo-classical buildings that make up the university's colleges, and several artworks. The most popular is The Oblation, sculpted by the National Artist Guillermo Tolentino. A few meters away from The Oblation, travelers can find more artworks at the Vargas Museum.

Located in the University of the Philippines Diliman campus, Vargas Museum is a four-story museum that specializes in Filipino art. The museum is surrounded with sculptures outside, with the Lapu-Lapu sculpture located in front and the Balanghay at the back. Inside, the Main Gallery displays artworks from the 1880s to the 1960s. It covers various mediums such as watercolors, pastels, oil paintings, sculptures, and art installations, from celebrated artists such as Lorenzo Guerrero, Simon Flores, Juan Luna, and Felix Resurrecion Hidalgo. The third floor is dedicated to the archives section, which is home to the Filipiniana library and the Vargas memorabilia. Vargas Museum and Filipiniana Research Center is named after Jorge B. Shows and performances
9.35 km away

“Living La Vida Imelda” is a multi-media monologue of musings about former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos and memories of life in 1970s Manila. We won’t talk about shoes very much but we’ll ponder over issues such as state sanctioned kitsch, hierarchies in human psychology and human rights, and the importance of winning beauty pageants in a developing nation. It will be a night of gossip, disco music, tragic facts and anecdotes so absurd that it’s got to be true.
