Battle of Binakayan Monument commemorates the first decisive victory of Filipino revolutionaries against Spanish colonial forces on November 9-11, 1896. The monument features metal sculptures of the battle's most celebrated heroes, including Emilio Aguinaldo, Candido Tirona, and Gregoria Montoya. Tirona and Montoya both died in combat. Gregoria was hailed as the Joan of Arc of the Philippine Revolution. The battle, a two-fold encounter that simultaneously took place in Binakayan in Kawit and Dalahican in Noveleta, pitted about 20,000 Spanish troops against more than 100,000 Filipino fighters. Outnumbered and overwhelmed by strong counterattacks, the Spaniards suffered heavy casualties and had to retreat. The victory held off Spanish control over Cavite and strengthened Aguinaldo's leadership position in the Katipunan. It also boosted morale and inspired more Filipinos to join the fight for independence.

Baldomero Aguinaldo Shrine
1.24 km away

This shrine is one of the two official shrines in Kawit, Cavite, the other being the Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine. Baldomero Aguinaldo Shrine is a two-storey ancestral house owned by Emilio's cousin, Baldomero Aguinaldo. Built in 1906, the house is made of stone and Philippine hardwood such as molave and narra. It shows influences of the classic bahay na bato design with its large sliding windows, ventanillas, intricate carvings on wall panels, and painted floral patterns on the ceiling. Restored in 1982 and inaugurated as a museum a year later, the shrine features antique furniture on loan from the Intramuros Administration and personal memorabilia of Baldomero Aguinaldo. The ground floor, once a storage area for farm produce and poultry, now houses a photo exhibit and a few furniture pieces.

Bacoor Church (St. Michael the Archangel Church)
2.00 km away

Also known as St. Michael The Archangel Church, Bacoor Church is one of the oldest churches in Cavite. It was established in 1669 using bamboo, straw, and nipa leaves. During Fr. Mariano Gomes' term from 1824 to 1872, the church was renovated with the present architectural structure made of adobe and tegula. Bacoor Church was created as a separate parish from Kawit in 1792 by virtue of the Royal Cedula issued by Ferdinand VI, King of Spain, to the Spanish Governor General in the Philippines.

Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo (Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine)
2.26 km away

This shrine marks the Philippines' most historic window: on June 12, 1898, Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo declared the independence of the Philippines, ending the 333 years of Spanish rule. The window, now renovated and converted into the Balcony of Independence, is the centerpiece of the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite. The seven-story mansion is a labyrinth of halls and rooms decked with nationalistic tableaus and art nouveau designs, secret passages, hidden storage areas, a bomb shelter, and a 500-meter long tunnel leading to St. Mary Magdalene Church. The ground floor was converted into a museum displaying an extensive collection of personal memorabilia. The tower, the most prominent part of the mansion, provides a sweeping view of Cavite, Manila, and Bataan.
