Dubbed as the People's Champ, boxer Manny Pacquiao put not just the Philippines, but his hometown, General Santos, in the global spotlight. Together with his wife, Jinkee who once served as Vice Governor of Sarangani, the couple founded Emmanuel and Jinkee’s Heart Foundation, Inc. The foundation's main objective is to help finance various activities and livelihood programs, which help uplift the socio-economic life of the undeprivileged. In pursuit of this goal, the couple opened the doors of some of their properties as tourist destinations, which provides employment to locals. Visitors get a glimpse into the life of the famed boxer, whose rags-to-riches story continues to inspire. Sites include their two mansions, Wildcard Gym, PacMan Stadium, Pacman Beach Resort, PacMan Farm and The Manny Pacquiao Hotel, also known as Road Haus Hotel. Proceeds of the tour will be used to support the scholars in Manny and Jinkee's foundation.
Carved out of the wilderness of Mindanao is 1939 as a part of the “land for the Landless Program” of President Manuel L. Quezon, General Santos City and the surrounding provinces of Southern Mindanao, now known as SOCSKSARGEN, has evolved into a bustling fishing and agro-industrial pillar of Mindanao.
Migrants started the development of SOCSKSARGEN; immigration rate to Southern Mindanao remains one of the highest on the archipelago. The pioneering spirit of the settlers from 1939 onwards still burns in the heart of the newer migrants and is the very reason why SOCSKSARGEN remains a bastion of economic growth and progress in Mindanao.
This pioneering spirit must live on and be passed to the next generation. This is the essence of the General Paulino Santos Museum: a tribute to the pioneering spirit of the migrants of Southern Mindanao.
The first Accredited Farm Tourism site in SOCCSKSARGEN(SOX). Nestled in the idyllic city of General Santos City, the farm of Felicidad Orchard and Garden Organics pioneered the vermi culture industry in Mindanao. Its owner is a multi-awarded Filipino inventor, James Fos Reamon. The farm is now being developed as an educational destination in the Philippines for students, teachers, and organic/natural farming communities showcasing Filipino inventions, agricultural machineries and equipment, as well as providing the visitors with event venues for seminars, trainings, meetings, celebrations and field tours on the farm sites of orchard, herbs, and vegetables.
