For some peace and quiet, St. Claire Monastery of St. James the Apostle in Malasiqui, Pangasinan is definitely a place to be. The church and the monastery sits in a two-hectare grassland donated to the congregation. The dainty chapel in all-white motif is a good place for reflection that is why it is becoming a pilgrimage site especially during the Lenten Season. The empty sinigwelas tree just beside the church is also a perfect spot for pre-nuptial photoshoots. Just behind the church is the “torno”, or the place where you can write your petitions and talk to the monks for some advice or a pray over. Currently, the monastery is building a dormitory for pilgrims who would want to stayover the site. A two-minute walk from the church is a chapel of Padre Pio adorned with Bamboo trees on the side.
