PAGASA Observatory | Things to do in Baler-Aurora
|Address:||Brgy. Zabali, Baler, Aurora|
Ermita Hill plays an important part in the history of Baler. It is where the only survivors of the catastrophe "Tromba Marina" (tsunami) fled for safety on the night of December 27, 1735, when the entire old town of Baler was engulfed with sea water. Now, the place has become a tourist attraction that provides a magnificent view of Baler Bay, Dima-Dimalangat, and Aniao Islets. The entire Ermita Hill is also suitable for trekking and camping activities.
Sabang Beach is the main activity sight of Aurora's coastline. This is where visitors can find chains of hotels, inns, lodging houses, restaurants, and surfing schools fronting the Pacific Ocean. This is the busiest coastline in the province and the nearest beach from the town center.
Museo de Baler is considered as the cradle of Aurora's rich history and culture. The museum showcases the history of what Aurora has become over the years—from Galleon Trades, the Pre-colonial and Spanish Era, contemporary art, modern history, and the present times. This two-storey building displays artifacts, sculptures, and paintings depicting the province's rich culture.
