Baler Museum | Things to do in Baler-Aurora
|Address:||Brgy. Sabang, Baler, Aurora|
Sabang Beach is the main activity sight of Aurora's coastline. This is where visitors can find chains of hotels, inns, lodging houses, restaurants, and surfing schools fronting the Pacific Ocean. This is the busiest coastline in the province and the nearest beach from the town center.
Ermita Hill plays an important part in the history of Baler. It is where the only survivors of the catastrophe "Tromba Marina" (tsunami) fled for safety on the night of December 27, 1735, when the entire old town of Baler was engulfed with sea water. Now, the place has become a tourist attraction that provides a magnificent view of Baler Bay, Dima-Dimalangat, and Aniao Islets. The entire Ermita Hill is also suitable for trekking and camping activities.
The state weather observatory of PAGASA located more than 10 kilometers south of the town proper at Barangay Zabali is perched on top of a hill of southern Baler. Overlooking the great Pacific Ocean, the lush forest of Sierra Madre Mountains, and the white beaches of Discalsarin Cove, the commanding point is ideal to observe weather in the east.
