Six imposing army trucks and tanks stand sentinel outside the Philippine Army Museum. Along with a range of artilleries, the open-air exhibit is a striking prelude to the two-storey museum inside. The museum keeps seven small galleries, the highlight of which is the Diorama gallery on the second floor.
The Diorama gallery is a life-sized representation of five of the most important events that shaped the Philippine Army's history. The five scenes are depicted in realistic wooden figures, staged in winding hallways that are spare, compact, and dark in some sections, lending an air of a military outpost. The dioramas chronicle milestones in the nation's struggle for freedom against foreign colonizers--from enlistment to the Sandatahan during the Katipunan, to the Liberation of Manila in 1945.
Founded in 1976, the Philippine Army Museum aims to record and preserve the history of the Philippine Army and its achievements.
The leading science museum in the Philippines, The Mind Museum is an interactive learning playground with 250 exhibits and two outdoor parks. Inside, the museum is divided into five galleries. From the infinitely small to the infinitely big, the galleries are the Atom Gallery, Life Gallery, Technology Gallery, Earth Gallery, and the Universe Gallery. Some of its many features include the world's most complete dinosaur fossil (a tyrannosaurus rex named Stan), an enlarged molecular structure of a chocolate, a life-size model of the baby blue whale, a simulation of the Hubble Space Telescope, and enlarged version of the human brain. Outside The Mind Museum building, visitors can either play in the Science-in-the-Park or hangout in the zen-inspired JY Campos Park. The museum itself looks like a silver spaceship that just landed in the center of Taguig's business district.
The Heroes' Cemetery, more commonly known as Libingan ng mga Bayani, is a 142-hectare graveyard, landscaped with manicured lawns, large trees, monuments, and stone pillars. Interred in its grounds are fallen Filipino heroes, soldiers, patriots, statesmen, National Artists, and National Scientists . These include Philippines' past Presidents Diosdado Macapagal and Carlos Garcia; Vice Presidents Arturo Tolentino and Salvador Laurel; and other notable personalities such as Blas Ople, Fe Del Mundo, and Carlos Romulo. Built in 1947, the Heroes' Cemetery is dedicated to the brave men and women who brought honor and pride to the country, and those who died for freedom and democracy.
