It was built in 1905 by British and Filipino engineers on the lofty hill of solid rock that is Punta Piedra Point, 18 kilometers from the town proper of Bolinao and 351 feet above sea level. The lighthouse has been a frequent site of location shooting for local movies. This lighthouse is just 35 feet shorter than the Cape Bojeador Lighthouse in Ilocos Norte.
