Juag Lagoon Fish Sanctuary | Things to do in Matnog-Sorsogon
Juag Lagoon is a place to cozy up to different kinds of aquatic life. Its clear shallow waters is home to a number of fish species, giant clams, starfish, sea cucumbers, and sea turtles. It is a sanctuary built and maintained by Alex Geneblazo, who helps protect and raise awareness for marine conservation. Visitors are allowed to snorkel inside the lagoon provided that they are not wearing sunblock, which contains toxins harmful to the ecosystem. There is also a cap to the number of swimmers at any given time so as not to bother the animals. Juag Lagoon Fish Sanctuary is one of the stops featured in Matnog’s island hopping itinerary. For booking arrangements, travelers are advised to drop by Matnog’s local tourism office.
