Mayabig River is a community river reserved for swimming, washing clothes, irrigation, and unfortunately, white stone mining. Facing Mt. Halcon, the river is wide and shallow, with one select deep area for jumping off from a cemented ledge. On an ordinary day, kids back-dive into the deep area, some wash their clothes from the riverbank, while others rummage among the rocks, looking for white stones. Meanwhile, part of the water is redirected into a canal, where the water is used for the rice fields in the area. Cottages nearby can also be rented out for P200 each.

Water Beach in Baco
Attraction
0.00 km away

Water Beach is a long stretch of fine, mocha brown sand. Its picnic area is cool and shaded with thorny aroma trees. Nearby are three cottages for rent and a waterless toilet. Walking several minutes down the left of the beach you'll reach the town of San Teodoro. Meanwhile, exploring the curving shoreline to the right you'll find fishing boats and sticky darker sand, with some half-buried dead trees. Water Beach faces the Verde Island Passage, where Isla Verde lies. Behind that island is the foggy outline of Batangas in the mainland Luzon.

Silonay Mangrove Conservation Area and Ecotourism
Attraction
2.31 km away

A 42-hectare protected area, Silonay Mangrove Conservation Area and Ecotourism is a haven of fireflies, migratory birds, various kind of fish, and of course, mangrove. Upon entering the area, travelers can leisurely walk deep into the mangrove forest through a 300-meter bamboo bridge. Found in the area are various types of mangrove such as the River Poison Tree, Asiatic Mangrove, Mangrove Apple, and Tall-Silted Mangrove. Best visited during high tide, this ecotourism zone offers kayaking (P50/hour, two seats), birdwatching (bring your own binoculars, November to March), and dolphin watching (April and May). Kayaking is the highlight of this destination. Aboard the colorful plastic kayaks, visitors would cruise through fishermen's trails, in between mangroves, and exit to Silonay River. During low tide, however, the mangrove forest reveals a muddy ground, where kayaking is not possible.

Calaungan Lake
Attraction
4.87 km away

Caluangan Lake lies on the northwest side of Calapan City, its borders dotted with mangroves and its serene waters continuously replenished by the Baruyan River. A leisure cruise (P350/head), available on weekends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., is the most accessible way of exploring the lake and the river. The cruise, which comes with a buffet lunch and musical performance, takes guests through five barangays as the boat sails from Baruyan River to Caluangan Lake and back. Guests may also go kayaking and fishing, although swimming is not allowed.
