The site where the Provincial Capitol building now stands. The original structure was built between the 16th to 18th century.
The seat of the Roman Catholic Church in the province. This is the first parish church to be built in the province during the early 18th century, made of cogon grass and roofing. It was also the first to have galvanized iron roofing in the 1890s. The feast of its patron saint, Sto. Domingo de Guzman, is celebrated by the Ivassays every August 8.
An old sitio derived from the Ivatan words “Na,” which means past, and “idi,” which means settlement or community. This is where the first lighthouse of Batanes was built. Also located here are the American wireless telegraph facilities, which were bombed by the Japanese during World War II. The site offers a unique panoramic view of Baluarte Bay, Basco town, Mount Iraya and the rolling hills of Batan Island. On a clear day, the whole of Batanes can be seen from end to end, including the islets beyond Itbayat.
