Our Lady of Sorrows Shrine & Museum
4.48 km away

A popular religious site among residents of Quezon, Our Lady of Sorrors Shrine marks the preliminary pilgrim site before heading to the foot of Mt. Banahaw. The first church was built with stones, sand, lime, and egg whites. It was burned down during the Filipino-American war, but the brick and stone walls survived and are still standing today as part of the new structure. Located in the garden behind the church is a path called Via Doloroza. Beautifully landscaped, Via Doloroza features stations where devotees may offer prayers. The life-sized relics recount the difficult times of the Blessed Virgin, from the time the Holy Family escaped Bethlehem, to the death of Jesus Christ. To the right of church is a museum established in 1999. It houses the many colorful vestments of the Blessed Mary. Seen also are antique chalices, relics, and bottles of perfume. Donations are encouraged for the upkeep of the museum.
